Alisa and Ben's Fall Destination Elopement at The Mast Farm Inn

We are a pretty easy going couple and didn’t want to change anything about the day we would get married from any other day we share with each other. We started our morning off with no power in our cabin in the woods where we were staying. We both have a strong passion for really good coffee..strong coffee is a must..PANIC set in... Not about getting ready for the day, but about the coffee. So it was a perfect opportunity to start our morning off In Banner Elk to get coffee together....just like any other day. Simple and perfect. We wanted a ceremony that was romantic, intimate, and no fuss. A day that reflected both of us. The best way to accomplish this little adventure was to head to the mountains for a simple rustic ceremony with just the two of us and our pup.

We met at North Bend State Park in 2009 by a total chance encounter on a motorcycle/camping trip. I had recently moved to Ohio for my job. I thought it would be a good idea to do a motorcycle trip with folks to get away, meet some local riders. Ben was on the same trip. So as strange as it sounds, neither one of us were looking to meet someone, we both just wanted to get away. We laugh about that to this day. We both were riding motorcycles on the trip and camping with friends when we met, but just as quickly as we met, we said goodbye at the end of the fun weekend. We figured that was it. But, we would eventually see each other again, two or three more times with the same group from the camping trip. We ended up on a Christmas date and the rest is history. We knew we couldn’t be apart, we had found that “one”, the one that completes each and every day, finally.

We knew from the very beginning we wanted to elope. The mountains and the fall in North Carolina were the perfect combination. We loved everything about the day. How easy and simple everything was. My favorite parts were the homemade parts, from the stenciled crates, my handmade pearl necklace and simple sash to Ben’s ring that he hammered out himself - It’s beautiful! It’s really about those personal touches that make the day. We were even able to bring our pup Ninka along for the adventure.

We spent the morning getting ready together, which is exactly what we had wanted from the day we started planning this trip. A perfect, relaxing morning. An absolutely beautiful fall day - the Best Day Ever!!

The day was perfect, we had so much fun. We followed the day by an incredible dinner and cake at the Mast Farm Inn. It was the simple, romantic day we hoped for. Heather and Jason were so much fun to work with. They embraced our adventurous side and were willing to head into the woods to capture the perfect moments with us.
