Kristin + Brian: A Mountain Destination Wedding at Crestwood Resort

Kristin + Brian love the mountains, so Crestwood Resort & Spa was the perfect mountain get-a-way for them to celebrate their day with family and friends. Of course, we love the mountains too, so we instantly connected with this couple and their wedding day vision! What a pleasure it was to see everything come together so beautifully!

The ceremony took place on the lawn with a stunning Blue Ridge Mountain backdrop. Cocktail hour and reception started out on the terrace. It was the perfect spot to view the setting sun - relaxing in a warm evening glow. Dinner included grilled chicken, pasta, green beans, mac-n-cheese, carved ham, and a mashed potato bar. After cocktails and dinner, guests enjoyed S'mores over the fire pit. As the night progressed guests moved inside to dance the night away and enjoy each others company in the lounge. Such a lovely evening! As always, it was such a pleasure working with CeCe Hampton Events who always brings everything together so flawlessly.

We loved all of the special touches that Kristin and Brian incorporated into their day, such as Brian wearing his dad's wedding band, and Kristin's dad made the cupcake stands from trees off of their family land in the mountains, and the lace overlay under the cupcake stands were handmade by Kristin's great-great aunt. They also had guests sign quilt squares, which will be made into a quilt for them. What an incredible heirloom that will be!

To honor Brian's Dutch heritage, they incorporated a Dutch Wedding Box into the ceremony. In this tradition, the bride and groom will write letters to each other and then place the letters into the box during the ceremony. According to the tradition, there are only two ways to open up the box...

“First, if there is a time in your marriage where you feel that you are in danger of not saving your marriage, then you both as a couple open up the box, drink some wine together and then read the notes you wrote to each other. The theory is that those letters would bring you back to the day you were married and give you an understanding that the love you share is much stronger than the problem that exists at the time you opened the box. Secondly, the Wooden Box is to be opened on your 10th Wedding Anniversary. This too will allow you to rekindle that special love that you had prior to your wedding day.”
